Busy But Fun Visit!

My parents have been here all week and thanks to them, we've gotten so much done around the house (Chad took the week off to watch basketball - a lot of help he was!). We painted the guest room, spread new mulch around the whole house, and hung a ceiling fan in the baby's room. I'd really like to redo the downstairs bathroom too - I can't take that wallpaper for much longer. That will have to be a project for Chad and I. After we do that, we will have painted every room in the house! I feel like we have a deadline to get things done around here because if we don't do it now, it probably won't get done. Apparently I'm nesting (according to Chad) because some of the things I wanted done hadn't bothered me before.
The baby is really on the move these days! He's busiest when I sit still and unfortunately his most active time of day is when I lay down to go to sleep. I'm already having trouble sleeping as it is. But it's really fun though to try and figure out what body part is kicking or poking me and what he's doing in there. Earlier this morning my whole belly was lopsided! My glucose test came back fine, which was great news and I go to the doctor's again this Wednesday for a check up.

Weird Dreams

When I first got pregnant I had so many strange dreams but I haven't had any in awhile until the other night. It was so weird. I remember feeling so frustrated because all of my friends who were due in June had already had their babies and we were still waiting. When Parker finally arrived he was huge! He was walking and talking. Chad was so proud and thought it was great that he was able to miss the newborn stage that everyone says is so difficult. I, on the other hand, was so upset. I wanted him to be tiny like he was supposed to be! I wonder what the next strange dream will be.
I had a doctor's appointment on Wed. I had the sugar test, an "exam", and lots of blood work. Why is it that a finger prick hurts worse than having blood taken from your arm? I was really anxious about this appointment because of the sugar test, mainly because of what I had to drink, but they give you this little bottle of juice that tastes like fruit punch (with a little hint of something that I'm not sure of). Not too bad! I also got to listen to the heartbeat - doctor said it was good and strong. I start going for appointments every two weeks now. That means that his arrival is getting much closer...I can't believe we're going to meet him in about 12 weeks! Chad says he's getting a little anxious and nervous now, with my belly getting bigger and bigger each day. I definitely am too (especially anticipating what labor is going to be like) but I'm so excited...I can't wait! Here's my latest picture at 28 weeks.

Beautiful Weekend!

It was such a beautiful weekend - It's hard to believe that a week ago I had the day off because we had 5 inches of snow! Chad and I both took advantage of the weather and spent time outside. He did some yard work and I supervised! I offered to help him but he said he had things under control so I sat in my chair and got a suntan. I'm really enjoying the warm weather but it has made me realize one thing - I'm glad I'm not going to pregnant during the hot summer months!

So here is a little trivia about Chad and I:

How long have you been married? 2 and 1/2 years.
How long did you date? A year and 6 months, then we were engaged for a year.
How old is he? 26 - Although if you know him, he doesn't really act his age!
Who eats more? Normally I would say Chad does for sure, but like Jennifer said, I'm not sure now that I'm pregnant!
Who said I love you first? I did.
Who is taller? Chad but not by much.
Who sings better? I can't say either of us are very good singers, although I sometimes like to think I am!
Whose temper is worse? Probably mine - Chad's pretty good at keeping his cool.
Who does the laundry? I do - but only because I'm particular about what can be dried in the dryer and what needs to be hung up. He does help fold most of the time.
Who does the dishes? We both do - one of us cooks and the other does the dishes.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Chad - He thinks he can protect me better if he's closer to the door. But I think he needs to switch with me so I can be closer to the bathroom since I get up so many times in the middle of the night!
Who pays the bills? Chad does.
Who cooks dinner? We take turns.
Who drives when you are together? Chad - although I'm a terrible backseat driver and he's always telling me I'm going to start driving!
Who is more stubborn? That would probably be me.
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? Chad's better at that than I am.
Whose parents do you see the most? Mine.

Snow Day!

It's a snow day today! I haven't had a full week of school in about 3 weeks between being sick and now a snow day. It's been a very long winter - I've caught every illness that's passed by me, which is quite a few since I work with 7 & 8 year olds! The last one, the stomach bug, was by far the worst I've had though. It made me appreciate the fact that I didn't have morning sickness the way some experience it. I don't know how I would have made it through!
We had a very productive weekend - we finally found a crib! Chad is one happy guy. We've been in every baby store in the area and finally found one we like. We are also going to get the matching dresser. I'm going to call the store this morning and order them. It's only supposed to take 4-6 weeks to be delivered, which isn't bad compared to the 12-14 weeks some of the stores said it would take for their cribs to come in. I only have 14 weeks to go if I go until my due date! That's cutting it a little too close for me. I need it to be here and set up by the time Parker gets here.
Chad and I are very anxious to see how Sadie reacts to this new baby. She has her quirks and is sometimes a little energetic...okay maybe very energetic, but she really is a good dog. We've allowed her to develop some bad habits though, like sleeping on the couch and on our bed at night (and lately with all the pillows I need to sleep with in order to be comfortable, it's becoming way too crowded), so I think we're going to have to do something about that soon. Last night I was laying on the couch and Chad was sitting beside me. Sadie wanted up on the couch in the worst way but my back was killing me, and I didn't want to move. So she decided to find herself a spot to lay because heaven forbid she actually lay on her bed like a normal dog! Chad says it's my fault...I made her a lap dog. Well, he wouldn't let me get a cat so I had to make due with a dog! Here are some pictures of her new spot...I have no idea how this could possibly be comfortable! (Not sure how to get the pictures to show up at the bottom of this...I'm sure it's something very easy to fix but I can't figure it out so I'm leaving it how it is!)

Is That a Foot Under My Rib??

I have been having the worst pain under my right rib. The only way to get comfortable is to lay down, stretch my arm up over my head, and put my corn bag on my rib. It's horrible! My friend, Stephanie said when she was pregnant she had the exact same pain under her right rib. It happened to be Riley's foot stuck up under there. She had to take pain meds for it and said she used to do the same things to try to get comfortable. I called the doctor and she said to take tylenol every 4-6 hours to see if that helps. It didn't help yesterday! I'm going to give it a few days and if it doesn't feel better, I'll be calling back. Chad wants to know if being pregnant is a fun as I thought it would be! Of course, all of this is worth it. I can't wait for June!
We're off to look for cribs this afternoon. We thought we may have found one on Craigslist but it didn't look exactly like we thought it would. Chad was pretty disappointed because we've been looking for what seems like forever, but we want to get something we really like. So he has our excel spreadsheet ready of all the places we're planning to go today. Wish us luck!

My First Craving

So I think I've had my first real craving... Kraft macaroni and cheese (spirals)! After being sick Sun., Mon., and Tues., the first thing that sounded good to me was mac 'n cheese. So my sweet husband stopped at the store on his way home Tues. night and got me some. Good thing he picked up a few boxes...I've eaten it two nights in a row, plus the leftovers for a snack the following day. Yum! Thinking about it makes me hungry - I won't be having mac 'n cheese for lunch though since there is leftover Little Italy pizza in the fridge...Another one of my favorites!
We are almost finished registering...still pondering the car seat & stroller. Chad is very much like my dad and will not commit to registering for one until he's made sure he's done his research and is getting just the right one. We actually did have one on our registry but we read lots of reviews that the stroller is heavy and very bulky so we took it off. We're going to go back to Babies 'R Us tomorrow to look again. We didn't realize you could buy a car seat and stroller separately and have them work together so we're going to go test some out and see what we can find.

Time To Register!

I knew trying to pick a car seat and stroller was going to be a big project...but I had no idea it was going to be this difficult! How do you ever choose??? We've got the Baby Bargains book, which has been pretty helpful in giving us suggestions but we're off to Babies 'R Us to look and both feel completely overwhelmed. There are more gadgets and gizmos on everything, and it's so confusing! Do we buy an infant seat or convertible seat? A stroller system or just a frame to snap the infant seat to? I went to start registering with my friend Stephanie yesterday, which was SO helpful (and Chad appreciated he didn't have to pick out the little stuff). Today we're going to look at the major purchases we'll need to make - car seat, stroller, pack 'n play, crib, dresser, etc. We'll let you know how it goes! Chad's taking me out for dinner for Valentine's Day after we finish. I've been wanting to go to Red Lobster for awhile now so that's where we're going. Cheddar biscuits...mmm! Happy Valentine's Day!
